What do you focus on first, the little things or the big things?

My advice – go for the big stuff first.

Often when we’re trying to get to the bigger things in life the career goals, the big dreams, the vision of our future, we get bogged down in the day to day which stops us taking the time to focus on what’s really important to us. This can be especially true for women.

This means we tend to focus on the small things, the feeding, the washing, the shopping, the pay cheque – it all has to get done right?

But where does that actually get us, if we want more out of life?

There’s a great analogy in coaching about the Jar of Life and it demonstrates very simply how if you fill your jar (your life) with small grains of grit and sand first the you don’t have space for the big rocks. But if you put the big rocks in first then you can fill in the gaps with the more fluid small grain stuff. Then it all fits in.

So if you want to start achieving what you know you’re capable of but can’t seem to find a way of getting to it, try taking a different approach and make your big dreams a priority.

Start making a change today.
